How To Create A Google Review Link

Generating a link to get Google reviews from your customers couldn’t be easier, but what you need to focus on is what you’re going to do with your Google review link after you get it.

You would think Google would make it easier for you to get a Google review link for your business, but the good news is that it’s not that hard; you just have to know how to do it.

In fact, Google itself tells you exactly how to do it if you’re willing to take a deep dive into their help center, but here’s a summary to save you some time.

What is a Google Review Link?

Your Google review link allows your customers to post a review on your Google My Business Page directly. Rather than following the lengthy, 6-step process for how to submit a Google review from scratch, your customers can post a review in just a few seconds with a straightforward, simple link.

What’s the best part? Setting up your Google review link is simple, and after you’ve done so, you can use it in a variety of ways.

The Easy Way To Get A Google Review Link

  1. Sign into your Google My Business account.
  2. In the menu on the left, click “Home”.
  3. In the “Get more reviews” card, you can find and copy your short URL and share it with customers.

If that doesn’t work, here’s…

How To Create A Google Review Link

  1. Go to Google and search for your business by name. It should come up on the right side of your screen (on a desktop ).  If it doesn’t, search again being sure to enter the full name of your business (and your business address or phone number if necessary).
  2. When you find your business listing, locate the “Write a review” button. If you can’t find the “Write a review” button, don’t worry – we’ve got detailed instructions below.
  3. After you click the “Write a review” button, copy the URL in the address bar. That’s your Google review link. Open up a new browser window and paste the URL into it to make sure it’s working.

Finding The “Write a review” Button

The location of the “Write a review” button may be different depending on how Google displays your listing.

An easy way to find it is to find the review summary at the top of your listing. Usually, it’s directly below your business name and top links like “Website,” “Directions,” etc. It will show a star rating and a blue text link showing the number of reviews. For example, if you have 10 reviews, it will say “10 Google reviews” in blue text. Click that text, and a window will open with your business reviews. In the upper right corner of that window, you’ll see a blue “Write a review” button. Click that, then go back to step 3 above.

Another way to find your Google “Write a review” button is to scroll down on your listing until you get to the “Reviews” section. It should be at the top right of that section. Click it, then return to the third step above.

If You Still Can’t Find Your Google Reviews Link

If following the steps above doesn’t work for you, Google provides an alternative way to get a direct link for your customer to post Google reviews. To find it, you’ll need to use the Google PlaceID Finder.

Google PlaceID Finder is a Google tool that shows you what your PlaceID is for a specific business location. A place ID is a local identifier for a business location in Google Maps and Google Local Search.

Simply click on this link and enter your business name in the search bar at the top of the map. Be sure to enter your business name as it appears in Google. If it doesn’t appear in the list of businesses, then continue to enter your business street address. Once you see your business, click on the listing.

In the middle of the map, there will be a pin with your business name and “Place ID”. Copy your Place ID and paste it onto the end of this URL: https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=

So for example, if your Place ID is ChIJj61dQgK6j4AR4GeTYWZsKWw then your URL would be https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=ChIJj61dQgK6j4AR4GeTYWZsKWw

Copy your URL and paste it in a new browser window to make sure it works before you send it out to your customers to post Google reviews.

If You Can’t Find Your Google Place ID

If you have a service area business (meaning that you go to your customers rather than your customers coming to you), then there’s a good chance that Google’s Place ID Finder won’t find your business. That’s okay, there’s a workaround for this:

Search for your business on Google in the Chrome browser. When you find it click the “Write a review” button, and in the menu that appears under your cursor click “Inspect”. This will open a panel in the browser window that shows a lot of code.

Within this panel search for “data-pid”. There will be a lot of instances of “data-pid”; you’re looking for the one that starts with “Ch” (it’s usually the 3rd instance of “data-pid” on the page).

Highlight the data-pid value (the part that starts with “Ch”) and paste it into a text document (you’re going to use it in just a moment). You may need to copy more than just the data-pid value – that’s fine.

Once you paste this into the text document, select just the value inside the data-pid quote marks (the part that starts with “Ch”). That’s the Place ID, and that’s what you’ll append to the end of https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=

So for example, if your data-pid is ChIJj61dQgK6j4AR4GeTYWZsKWw then your URL would be https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=ChIJj61dQgK6j4AR4GeTYWZsKWw

Copy your URL and paste it in a new browser window to make sure it works before you send it out to your customers to post Google reviews.

Why Are Google Reviews Important (And How To Get More Of Them)?

In case you didn’t already know, Google has risen over the past few years to be the number-one site for online reviews. Google reviews are one of the most powerful tools for building your business. They can be used in a variety of ways, but they’re especially useful when you want to get more exposure for your services or products. In addition to the obvious reasons, here’s why Google reviews are so important:

1. Google Reviews Give You More Exposure

When someone shares their positive experience with your business through online reviews, it helps you gain more visibility. This means more potential customers will know who you are and what you offer through this online presence.

2. Google Reviews Help Increase Conversions

Once you start generating Google reviews, you may notice that your conversion rate goes up. That’s because there’s a direct impact from people sharing their opinions about your business with others. Social proof is powerful.

3. Google Reviews Build Trust With Your Customers

If you’ve ever been involved in customer service, then you know that trust is key. But the strongest kind of trust comes between customers (customer-to-customer recommendations), and the easiest way to build this kind of trust is via Google reviews.

4. Google Reviews Help Your Site Rank Better

Getting a steady stream of Google reviews actually boosts your rankings on Google Search. If you do a good job at providing great customer service, then your customers will share their positive customer experiences with others, and this will actually move you higher in Google search results.

5. Google Reviews Make People Feel Good About Their Purchases

People love to talk about themselves and give their personal recommendations. So when they post a positive Google review about your business, it actually reinforces their purchase decision to themselves.

6. Google Reviews Work For All Types of Businesses

Whether you sell products, services, or information, you can benefit from Google business reviews. Google reviews don’t discriminate – they love all businesses equally.
